A classic Krisel roofline and ocean-hued entry make the Maison Bleue Moderne stand out as a true Palm Springs gem.
Set within the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs is a redesigned original 1950s home originally built by the Alexander Construction Company and designed by architect William Krisel. Inspired by the owners’ colorful personalities and passions for sailing and travel, designer Michelle Boudreau seamlessly merged materials and new spaces with modern technology, while respecting the existing cherished mid-century design details.
As one of the featured homes during Modernism Week, Maison Bleue Moderne represents the best of Palm Springs chic living through airy architecture, indoor-outdoor living, and pops of color infused throughout the home. Boudreau explained further in a Modernism Week interview, “This is a dreamy, iconic mid-century modern home with my favorite butterfly roofline. It is elevated with exaggerated ceiling heights that open
up to the mountain views, allowing sunlight to glow throughout.”
As the exclusive paint sponsor of Spring 2022 Modernism Week, Dunn-Edwards was proud to lend prominence to the color palette of this distinctive, historic home. Variations of aquatic colors with touches of corals and blush, along with walnut wood elements, add warmth and softness, while round shapes recur as a theme.
To further showcase the owners’ passion for sailing and appreciation of oceans and ocean life, blues are in abundance and are featured on bedroom headboards, chairs and backsplash tiles. Aqua hues, painted on the front door and represented through the home, create a subtle homage to desert living.
With architectural features and color galore, Maison Bleue Moderne shows the very best of what Palm Springs lifestyle is all about.
