Limón: A Luxurious Mid-Century Modern Boutique Hotel

Limón, a colorful seven-bedroom private escape in south Palm Springs, was recently renovated by H3K Home+Design, who transformed the property into a holiday landing place and was recently on the home tour during Spring 2022 Modernism Week. This luxurious mid-century modern boutique hotel accommodates 14 guests in separate suites surrounding a gleaming swimming pool.
“The new incarnation of Limón is a one-group hotel—meaning the entire property is rented out to one large party of up to 14 people. Since it was built as residential, each room is extra-large and has its own entrance,
bathroom and private patio—and all rooms feature large windows looking at the pool area. There’s a community kitchen for gathering as well as a community living room in Unit #2 with a wet bar and large-screen TV. The spa, outside BBQ, bar and covered patio contribute smaller outdoor communal spaces. It’s large enough that everyone can find their own space but small enough to encourage shared time,” H3K stated in an interview for Modernism Week.
Constructed in 1964 and originally built as an apartment house designed by architect Marshall Roath for original owners Mr. and Mrs. Clarke, it was named Stuart Manor after their son. Limón is one of the
most unique buildings in Palm Springs, as it is an all-steel structure with international flair inspired by the Era of Optimism and the continental graphics and style of the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics.
Dunn-Edwards, as the exclusive paint sponsor of Spring 2022 Modernism Week, partnered with H3K Home+Design to provide paint for the property. Limón is truly a unique property in the mecca of Palm Springs mid-century design.
