A Brief History of Pink

Whether in fashion or interior design various shades of pink have been pop culture icons throughout the decades. Like many other of the most popular colors, pink occurs in nature, appearing in a variety of settings - the sunset and sunrise, flowers, fruit, and more are all naturally-occurring instances of the color pink. In fact, Dunn-Edwards’ color expert and stylist Sara McLean highlights references to pink as far back as the 8th- century BC and the Roman Empire. In more modern times, she notes that pink became a popular color to wear, first by royalty signifying their status and also the concept of romance, then by English boys as a way to show nationalistic pride in the 18th- and 19th-centuries, respectively.
