Dunn-Edwards and the 60th Pasadena Showcase House of Design: A Legacy in Color
06/04/2025 | christinabantigue |
Earlier this spring marked the 60th anniversary of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, and Dunn-Edwards was proud to sponsor this milestone celebration of design, history, and community impact. This year’s featured property, the Bauer Estate & Gardens, is a grand Monterey Colonial estate originally designed by renowned architect Reginald D. Johnson in 1928. Nestled over five acres and spanning 15,000 square feet, the home is a stunning example of architectural heritage and thoughtful renovation.
Highlights from the Home
Primary Bedroom by Plaster & Patina
Plaster & Patina reimagined the Primary Bedroom with a refined palette of soft neutrals and cool earth tones. Bold black accents added contrast, grounding the space’s thoughtful blend of historic charm and modern comfort.
Kitchen and Kitchen Great Room by Rachel Duarte Design Studios LLC
The Kitchen and adjacent Great Room are unified by a warm, inviting palette. Soft whites, dusty greens, smoky blues, and earthy clay tones create a rich, lived-in feel. Darker accents and wood tones add depth, while satin gold finishes bring a subtle glow throughout.
Dunn-Edwards Color of the Century, Viridian Odyssey (DE1925), anchors the Great Room, enhancing the natural textures of lime-washed brick and custom millwork. Together, the colors create a harmonious flow from kitchen to living, blending comfort with timeless elegance.
Flower Room by GEX Designs
Every home definitely needs a Flower Room because who does not want a dedicated space just for arranging fresh-picked blooms? This serene retreat is awash in the calming blue-green of Life Aquatic (DET607), perfectly echoing the garden outside. Soft botanical wallpaper and delicate floral details deepen the connection to nature, making the room as soothing as it is purposeful.
Ladies’ Powder Room by Jennifer Bevan Interiors
The Ladies’ Powder Room features a rich, warm palette that creates a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Deep, moody tones balance sophisticated refinement with inviting comfort, blending timeless style and modern warmth for a space that feels both distinguished and welcoming.
Guest Bedroom by Billman Designs
The Guest Bedroom is a serene retreat shaped by a soothing palette of soft neutrals that pop against the bedroom’s floral wallpaper. Light and calming tones create a restful atmosphere throughout the bedroom making it the perfect welcoming space for guests.
As we celebrate 100 years of Dunn-Edwards and six decades of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, we are proud to continue our legacy of color innovation while bringing timeless beauty to iconic homes.
