City Stroll Hotel Focus: CitizenM Gare de Lyon

Continuing with our Color Trends 2019, we are focusing on designs that explore the color and design of the "City Stroll" Trend. Architects are designing "urban oases" within our cites, sanctuaries celebrating bold colors and experimental geometries. Designers strive for a sort of pseudo-realism and artificiality, pushing the boundaries of form.

Just a short walk from the historic Marais District and a stroll from the River Seine, citizenM’s third Paris
location is perfectly placed for travelers in search of culture, commerce or community. Designed by Dutch
studio concrete, the hotel features 338 rooms organized within a former office tower block and is located
a block from one of Paris’s major transportation hubs, Gare de Lyon train station. The hotel is tailor-made
to fit inside the existing building, while art pieces, installations and bespoke design objects abound
within the contemporary and charming environment.

Second Floor Living Areas

The public areas on the second floor are designed with the aesthetic of "chambre en suite," which is a series of living areas that are all sub-divided. Dotted throughout are the signature black citizenM cabinets filled with colorful and quirky accessories and objects from all over the world. As with all citizenM hotels, the walls are decorated with specially commissioned artworks, including a bespoke mural by French street artist Mast Cora and a bespoke fresco created by local artist Romain Froquet.

Located in the heart of the living rooms is canteenM, a lively space to eat, drink and socialize. The space also includes an open-air patio with hanging lanterns dividing the bar from the meeting rooms, bringing light deep into all the public areas.

cloudM

Moving up to the top floor of the hotel, guests will find a sky bar — cloudM — allowing them to enjoy stunning views of the river Seine and the city. Designed to evoke the feel of a Parisian apartment, the bar includes light colors, deep colored oak wooden cabinets and soft furniture to make visitors feel at home.

Every guest room at the hotel features the characteristic huge bed, powerful rain shower and tablet mood pad that controls your entire room: the temperature, lighting moods, blinds, alarm and entertainment.
