3 Trending Colors for Spring According to These Pasadena Showcase House Designers

The spring season always brings with it a fresh palette of exciting new colors; colors that brighten our moods and our spaces like earthy colors or spring’s quintessential pastels. And whether you’re looking to makeover your front door for fresh curb appeal or tackle a bigger project this season, we’ve got you covered. This spring also brings with it the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design (PSHA). In anticipation of the opening on April 23, we’re checking back in with PSHA past designers to get their take on what colors are trending this spring.

Greens

With good reason, green ranks high on the list of trending colors for spring. This earth tone celebrates life and rejuvenation and the spirited grassy green, Grassy Knoll (DEFD30) was our March color of the month. Past PSHA designer Ammie Kim of Ammie Kim Interior Design is high on pastel greens. “Spring is all about pastel colors,“ says Kim. “Aloe Mist (DE5666) is the perfect shade of green to give any room a gentle, refreshing feel to it.”

PSHA alum Christine Jahan of Christine Jahan Designs finds she’s using various shades of green a lot right now because it helps bring life from the outdoors inside a home. “Green is after all the color of plant life,” notes the designer. In fact, in a recent project of hers in La Cañada, two earthy shades Northgate Green (DE6235) and Denali Green (DE6237) made their way into the kitchen and adjoining breakfast nook space.

Whites

Former PSHA designer Daniel Coffman of Staged Spaces shares that when it comes to a clean, timeless design that’s also great for resale, you just can’t beat white. “It feels crisp and fresh. Just what home buyers are seeking! My favorite white is Carrara (DET649).” The hues' touch of gray gives it a unique chalky quality which adds just the right amount of intrigue to an otherwise classic color. Designer Jahan notes that using accent whites with beige undertones like Abstract White (DE6232) can unify multiple earthy green tones together in single space.

Pinks

Pink has been on our radar at Dunn-Edwards and for good reason. Popular trends like Barbiecore are taking over social media. Designer Kim loves a soft pink like Dunn-Edwards Early Blossom (DE5049). Kim explains, “A soft pink color not only adds a sweet, delicate touch to the room, but it also reminds people of the cherry blossoms that bloom early in the spring season.” For Coffman, it’s all about earthier, rosy pinks like Dunn-Edwards 2023 Color of the Year, Terra Rosa (DE5096). “It’s the color of the year and for good reason,” says Coffman. It’s the perfect blend of terra cotta and rose tones, explains the designer, that feels modern yet timeless.
