The Joshua Tree House: One Year Later in the Sonoran Desert

Design Trends

As Sara and Rich Combs know, there are many advantages to embracing “slow living” in the Sonoran Desert — beautiful views; relaxation; peace and quiet; and, perhaps most important in these challenging times, reconnecting with nature while disconnecting from the current discord of city life.

First highlighted in July 2019, the Joshua Tree House restoration was nearing completion, and initial bookings were expected to begin soon. It’s amazing what can happen in a year!

Today, the desert-meets-design masterpiece blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings and evokes feelings of well-being, creativity, calm, authenticity and harmony. The Joshua Tree House provides a welcoming space for guests and consistently receives rave reviews for its decor, hospitality and beauty — with one visitor proclaiming it, “The most magical place ever!” With that in mind, our review of the 2020 trends story Co-Habitants (with the Joshua Tree House as our inspiration) validates the colors, materials and textures that showcase the best of desert living. Check out our issue below!

Now for the latest news! The Joshua Tree House has reopened in Tucson. In addition, the Combs’ have released a series of presets to highlight the splendor and enchantment of their surroundings. Check it out!
