Researchers in the San Francisco Bay area recently discovered that the glasses they had designed for surgeons could also help alleviate the symptoms of colorblindness. This accidental discovery is helping the color blind see color and is transforming vision research.
The Enchroma CX glasses were originally designed for doctors to wear during surgery. These glasses work to create greater definition between certain colors by altering the color wavelengths. This aids in surgery by helping doctors see defined differences throughout the human body. When worn by an individual with colorblindness the glasses separate and isolate certain color wavelengths, allowing the eyes to see and interpret colors previously undetected. The research team is now designing and producing standard Enchroma CX glasses for colorblindness and is committed to helping the color blind see color.
Our team of professionals at Dunn Edwards understands how important seeing color is. Along with our commitment to developing state-of-the-art paint products we are continually expanding our understanding of important color science. We want to ensure that we understand the ways in which colors affect human emotions, how the human body responds to color, and how colors are interpreted.
