The kitchen is the heart of the home and is where most of us spend our time gathering, even outside the holiday season. Picking the right color for kitchen cabinets and walls can be tricky. Finding the right color balance between trend-defying and statement-making is a delicate balance to accomplish for any seasoned designer or DIY-er. The color of your kitchen cabinets is a relatively easy element of the home to change, and one that makes a tangible impact. From saturated hues to new neutrals, here are some holiday-inspired green paint colors for your kitchen.
Fancy green as a neutral? We love this idea. In her kitchen, Create & Cultivate’s Jaclyn Johnson, used Misty Hillside (DE5568) to go bolder than a traditional white kitchen while maintaining a neutral palette that has staying power for years to come.

Light Pine (DE5535), a soft yet impactful lime green, brings laid back style and country touches to the kitchen at Sweet Laurel Cottage in an effort to create a Surrey meets Santa Monica aesthetic (that’s right - Surrey, as in the charming English village from The Holiday.) The home was a collaboration between Sweet Laurel business partners Laurel Gallucci (the home’s owner) and Claire Thomas (the home’s designer). In this house, Light Pine pairs nicely with saturated evergreens and olives, as well as rosy hues.

Speaking of more saturated greens and holiday greenery, this kitchen designed by Studio McGee creates a sophisticated mood with the use of Black Spruce (DE6308), a color aptly named given the holiday season. Have a kitchen with large windows looking out onto a lush, forested landscape? A hunter green like this hue can help ground a connection between a home and nature.

If you can’t stand the heat, well, you know what they say. But rather than getting out, we vote to stay put and paint the kitchen a cool, calming green like Verde (DE5627).
For a little pastel holiday inspiration in the vein of this winter color of the month, take a look at this Mid-century Modern kitchen awash in Opaline (DEC783), a muted green called after its namesake gemstone. This green kitchen sets the playful yet luxurious tone for the casita of Mesa Modern, a featured home during 2020 Modernism Week.
