I earned my bachelor’s in chemistry and my master’s in polymers and coatings at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I interviewed with several companies but — after graduating — decided to start my career with Dunn-Edwards.

Dunn-Edwards has a great sense of community, which is rare in a workplace. When I learned I was encouraged to grow professionally, I knew this was the company for me. My managers understand my desire to develop as a professional and — in the three years I’ve been here — I have grown in my ability to multi-task, predict timelines, problem solve, mentor and present results to all departments. As a chemist, I have to multitask. My days usually include evaluating batches, discussing project progress with my manager, as well as meeting with vendors and co-workers to see what new raw materials we can research. It’s a very relaxing, encouraging and trusting atmosphere.

At Dunn-Edwards, we do everything we can to ensure customers receive the best paint possible and are constantly designing or improving products to meet market needs. Plus, the laboratory is a fun place to be and is filled with creative intellectuals that make it even more enjoyable to come to work each day.

After 4 years of working for the company, I was promoted to Environmental Affairs Manager. This crucial position has heavy responsibilities, such as ensuring Dunn-Edwards continues to be greener by design®, stays updated with and participates in local, state, and federal environmental agencies; and ensures all departments are being environmentally conscious. I was proud to work for the company as a chemist, but seeing all the hard work going on behind the scenes to ensure Dunn-Edwards remains eco-efficient while delivering great products has made me even more proud of the company and my co-workers!
